I think there is an overreaction to his election going on, but I could be mistaken. It seems when someone is looking out for the people, like say pushing for higher wages, better working conditions or reasonable rent, they are branded as communists or socialists and the fearmongering starts. Poor millionaires and billionaires having to deal with the specter of an upstart that wants to give the people a small break.

There will be no overreaction as long as the communists stay out of Red America. But sadly communism rarely is content to stay within its own borders.

You know, I don't like how a lot of posters here tend to negatively pile on your posts, but, communism is so 1980's. Maybe it's coming back in a big way with this guy in N.Y. that wants to help the worker, but, it seems like it isn't.

Do you think the overreaction to Mamdani's election is an overreaction because he'll never get instituted into law very much of his radical "democratic socialist" agenda? Or do you think I'm going to far by calling him a communist? I was always taught that socialism by its nature always turns into communism and in my view democratic socialism will quickly turn into communism. One reason being that once you starting issuing welfare checks, voters can never decide to stop issuing welfare checks. The best we can hope for now as lifelong taxpayers is decreasing the rate of spending increases. Actually cutting spending ending deficit spending is never on the table. Fidel Castro seemed very concerned with helping out the lower class. But did he really help them out even if he intended to do so?
