In most cases immigrants with criminal convictions targeted by ICE roundups have been through legal proceedings resulting in a final order of removal.

You don't want to see these guys go. Why?

Granted, when ICE is going after the criminals that have some kind of record/interaction with the law there are 'run of the mill' illegal migrants that get swept up in the raids and may not be in the system. Once they are in a detention facility they become part of the overall data based of illegal immigrants that have come across the border without going through the legal requirements to do so.

Things do get rather dicy at that point for many of these folks. The can make claims of asylum and try to go through immigration court but that is a tedious process depending on the facility they are in. Hopefully with the increase in funding some of the slow downs to take care of these issues more expeditiously will occur.

As it was, how ever, millions upon millions of people had come into our country illegally. The problem was created by the last administration.

They are literally picking people up who are here legally, while doing what the law requires. Like the grandfather who went to replace his lost green card. Here legally, granted asylum, doing what the law requires. No criminal record. Kidnapped, and trafficked to another country he wasn't even from.

Or there's the Iranian Christians who fled persecution, and were here legally, that were kidnapped by federal goons right in front of their church.

The "least of these," the "stranger," the "neighbor" are being swept up, often while doing exactly what the law requires of them, held in abhorrent conditions, being forced to eat like dogs on their knees with hands zip-tied behind them, and being sent off to torture prisons. Soon we'll probably see accounts of children being medicated into compliance, and women being sterilized without their consent, just like last time the Republican god-emperor was in power. Last time the church at least occasionally released a half-hearted news release proclaiming the moral high ground that they liked to pretend to hold.

Now... crickets. Now, as it has become even more abhorrent. Now as it has become even more malignant and vile. Children with cancer being kidnapped and trafficked to foreign lands. American citizen children being held hostage as bargaining chips. What has the Church had to say? Nothing.

There's another time in history that's pretty similar. Someone who dared speak up while the Church was silent was even excommunicated. Surely Mormonism's God isn't as impotent as the leaders consistently make them seem to be.

Maybe ICE just needs to kidnap a few people who pay significant amounts in tithing, or are employed by a wealth management fund, for the Corporation to finally at least pretend to care.

ETA: Sorry for the tone of the above. I thought about trying to edit it, but I don't know that it would do much good. I don't know what description would fit my emotional state. Pissed? Upset? Deeply disappointed and heartbroken watching the support (or at the very least, apathy) for the crusade of abject cruelty being wrought? All I know is it's hard to mask these types of feelings, and I'm not sure I want to or should.
