Agreed. I think the same is true in the Kirk murder. Crime of mental illness and possibly passion.
I’m also thinking along those lines. I guess I think you have to be in a condition of mental irrationality to commit an atrocity of this nature. I know the toothpaste is out of the tube on this one, but widespread ownership of high performance firearms can’t be helping.
That was a very generic rifle. Nobody is shooting the precision stuff.
Ban Whiskey permanently if that's the only way.

Thank you for this reasonable take. I agree that there is no mainstream American political party that has a platform that includes murdering people in schools or churches. I have been disappointed to see that there are some people who have celebrated murder recently, but I have yet to see anyone celebrate this church attack. Hopefully, no one does.
Indeed! Let's hope that very few people seriously think that any act of murder is justified.

I suspect the same might be the case for Nigel Edge - also a veteran, reportedly - who shot up a restaurant last Saturday and killed 3 people.
I am having trouble keeping up with all of these senseless tragedies.

I think I read that Edge has been diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury.

Failure to provide the right care for people comes at an unacceptably high cost.

It’s a real problem. When taking about the cost of health care, they rarely factor in the avoided harm.

A significant amount of money has been raised by members of the church and supporters for the family of the alleged shooter, Thomas Jacob Sanford, through online fundraisers orchestrated mainly by church members. These online fundraisers have rapidly raised over $275,000, nearing $300,000, to support the shooter's family, including his wife and children who are considered victims of the tragedy as well.
