It was banned in my house also. I could watch it at my friend's though. What were the reasons it was banned in yours?

In mine, it was 1) making fun of the law 2) Daisy

Boss Hogg was the law. He fought crime. Uncle Jesse and Bo and Luke were criminals. According to your worldview, fighting crime is an end to itself, so you shouldn't suggest that people are saying fighting crime is wrong unless you take into account the possibilities where fighting crime is a pretense for other things.

By the way, it looks like if you want to learn about fascism you'll need to use duckduckgo instead of Google now. That's fascism in action.

Well, if he was, at least he wouldn’t look like Nearsighted Voldemort. : D
Nearsightedness is fascist.
Nope. It’s not the nearsightedness, it’s what you do with the nearsightedness that’s fascist.

In Acts 22:23-29, Luke wrote:As they were shouting and throwing off their cloaks and flinging dust into the air, the commander ordered that Paul be taken into the barracks. He directed that he be flogged and interrogated in order to find out why the people were shouting at him like this. As they stretched him out to flog him, Paul said to the centurion standing there, “Is it legal for you to flog a Roman citizen who hasn’t even been found guilty?”

When the centurion heard this, he went to the commander and reported it. “What are you going to do?” he asked. “This man is a Roman citizen.”

The commander went to Paul and asked, “Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?”

“Yes, I am,” he answered.

Then the commander said, “I had to pay a lot of money for my citizenship.”

“But I was born a citizen,” Paul replied.

Those who were about to interrogate him withdrew immediately. The commander himself was alarmed when he realized that he had put Paul, a Roman citizen, in chains.

Roman floggings weren’t usually fatal. In Paul’s case the goal was interrogation. It was just a gangster state imposing suffering that was only supposed to affect non-citizens who had no rights, but in fact was applied with such casual indifference that it also struck citizens.

At least the Roman Empire didn’t pretend to be the last best hope of Earth, or print “Liberty” on its coins. The Romans were literally the original fascists with no other pretence, using the fasces bundles of beating-sticks as state symbols openly. Another state symbol could well have been the cross, even in Paul’s time, because the Roman state quite liked to crucify people, as long as they weren’t citizens, ideally.

And at least in the Roman Empire an official who mistakenly abused a citizen was afraid that he might have to face consequences.

There is one of those lil' shacks that I drive by now and again. Any time I look in that direction, there's a chain of SUV's and trucks bumper-to-bumper. I assume they're mostly right-wingers so yeah, reasonable worldview.
