No problem, IHQ - thanks.I Have Questions wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 4:32 pmYou have my unconditional and unreserved apology. I got it wrong. Misread it. I hold my hands up.malkie wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 2:51 pmIHQ, I think you may have misread what I said. I've bolded and italicized within the quote.
That is, someone (Limnor has fessed up!) suggested - we need MG perhaps more than he needs us. My statement disagrees, as I don't think that is the case.
"It's been demonstrated ..." reaffirms the idea.
I'll forgive you this time, but I won't forget

The natural consequence of such a practice is the need for constant special pleadings.Marcus wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 5:11 pmSpeaking of the constant stream of absurdity, it's entertaining that after being caught not only quoting but directly "engaging" with the person he frequently states that he "ignores," mentalgymnast posted this bit of obvious projection:![]()
This is the tragic part of this comedy of errors. But mentalgymnast seems to not mind showing, regularly and repeatedly, the utter lack of logic that the defense of Mormonism requires. MG might say I lack the spirit, or am under the influence of evil/Satan (as the former counselor in out little branch in Canada used to tell me), but I feel sometimes that MG's contributions descend to the level of complete nonsense in trying to find plausible demonstrations of the existence and attributes of his chosen "creator-god", and the benefits of Mormonism...

In case you consider me to be one of the few, allow me to clarify that I have not "changed my tune":.
- I have never put you on ignore, nor do I believe that I said I would
- you'll notice, perhaps, that I almost never quote you
- while I may address some of your comments, I don't consider that to be my engaging with you
- I don't quote or engage directly because I concluded that it was a waste of my time

Good to know. Thanks for being direct/blunt. It's always a good thing to know where one stands. You certainly didn't beat around the bush.

MG is here to disrupt, tease, and play games at the expense of others.I Have Questions wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 4:34 pmDo you acknowledge the many examples provided that show quite a few other religions are doing exactly that, and more, and that your original stance that the SLC LDS was above all others in doing so was wrong? (For reference this is a test of your character).
Ugh!
The temples of Mormonism are temples of doom and gloom that enslave the souls of those who make cultish covenants therein. I have broken those covenants and refuse to have my throat slit.
I am free.
And that *is* salvation!

I understand your position, but I will continue to post my perspectives for anyone who finds them useful, recognizing that you and others are free to ignore or critique them as you see fit.malkie wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 6:01 pmThe natural consequence of such a practice is the need for constant special pleadings.Marcus wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 5:11 pmSpeaking of the constant stream of absurdity, it's entertaining that after being caught not only quoting but directly "engaging" with the person he frequently states that he "ignores," mentalgymnast posted this bit of obvious projection:

(Hello Shulem!!)
A number of posters here have made it clear that they regard any faith-based premise as “complete nonsense,” or as an “utter lack of logic,” and that engaging with me is a waste of time. You yourself have stated you do not consider yourself to actually be engaging with me. I accept that my posts will mostly serve those readers who want to see how a believer integrates temples, scripture, and personal experience into a coherent worldview, even if that worldview rests on premises you reject.
That God can write straight using crooked lines.
What I have been doing in this thread, and others, is laying out how things look from a believing Latter-day Saint’s framework, not claiming that faith based assumptions are neutral starting points that everyone must accept.
Many times I have said, "To each his own." I've said it in many different ways.

MG

No. What you are doing is saying some stuff that represents what you, personally think. That's all.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Lol. That's what mentalgymnast thinks he's doing? Maybe he doesn't read what he writes.

That's what surprises me. Mentalgymnast really does not accurately represent Mormon doctrine, belief, or thought, in my opinion. That may come from relying too much on his AI cheats.I Have Questions wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 11:07 pmNo. What you are doing is saying some stuff that represents what you, personally think.
