WHO or WHICH is most important?

Post by LittleNipper »

Is JOSEPH SMITH more important than Jesus the Christ? Is Jesus the Christ more important than JOSEPH SMITH or are THEY both equal? Why or why not?

Also, is the Bible more important than the Book of Mormon or are THEY both of equal value? Why or why not?

Who are you asking this question to?

As a nonbeliever, I don’t believe in the biblical claims or the divinity of Christ as a Savior of mankind. But I suspect a wise man named Jesus once lived and early Christians perverted his teachings to whatever effect.

I believe everyone is equal and everyone is one. We are the ocean in a drop or a drop in the ocean -- take your pick. Nobody is any better or of more worth than anyone else.

To hell with the ego! I got rid of mine for now. It is very liberating.

The question is primarily directed to those who hold to LDS doctrine. Since you don't believe in GOD, that would absolve you from having much of an opinion in this matter that is relevant.

You have no call to say I don’t believe in God. My post revealed that I don’t believe in the God of the Bible or the LDS version of God.

Again, here is your original post:

Apparently you didn't make yourself entirely clear. However, the reality is that the thread I posted regards the Bible and the Book of Mormon, and Jesus Christ and JOSEPH SMITH. Your views of early Christians is irrelevant to this particular discussion as you deny Christianity and even the LDS consider themselves "Christian". You did ask the question, regarding to whom am I addressing this question to? Obviously, you don't like the answer I provided.

Let me make myself entirely clear by saying I do not believe in the God of the Bible or the divinity of Christ as a Savior and nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet and has any right to tell me what to do.

I hope that helps.

But, I do believe in God. The real God! :)

I disagree, my views are entirely relevant and I got my eyes on this thread. I am welcome to participate and comment as much as I want as a nonbeliever of the Bible God and a believer in the real God.

Thank you.

You say you believe in the real God. What do you base your beliefs on? Why would not the "real" God attempt to interact with HIS creation by contacting man through Divine Inspiration?

The real God is in constant contact with humans every day all over this planet. The idea of creation is not comparable with that of mythical terms given in the Bible. We probably do not agree on what classifies “Divine inspiration.”

Also, God is not a “HE”. The Infinite God is both Male and Female in principle -- but more Female because She gives birth to everything that manifests in the multi-universes.

That's your opinion without anything to back it up. GOD is not female though HE does have a nurturing side according to the Bible. However, HE created the Universe by speaking it into being according to the Bible. GOD didn't give birth to it. I do agree that GOD through the indwelling of the HOLY SPIRIT is in contact with all those that are saved through faith in Christ. The Creation story in GOD's Word is straight forward and follows a logical course of events.

Yes, it’s my opinion and I (someone) back it up with my own power -- I know, feel, and testify of that which makes absolute sense to me in my life’s experience on this planet.

I understand you Christians believe the Bible and Jesus to be more important than the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith and both parties believe God is a Man. Christian & Mormon faith believes God was manifested in the flesh as a Man -- became mortal and was resurrected. I assume both parties also believe he has male genitalia at this very moment but the Mormons take it a step further and assume the same for the Father -- two divine Men having penises. I find it interesting how Christians & Mormons are hung up on male dominance and male superiority when it comes to the universal power of God. It’s very sexist in my opinion and springs the trap!

Which is a redeeming quality exhibited by the God of the Bible -- nurture, tenderness, and compassion. Moreover, is a willingness to submit to a child’s own wishes/desires admirable? On the other hand, the Bible’s dominant Man-God exhibits testosteronal characteristics of a total destructive nature which is something I do not respect. In fact, I encourage everyone to abandon that concept of God!

I beg to differ. In the figurative sense, creation and birth are one in the same. A mother creates and a mother gives birth. The creation account in the Bible is nothing but a myth in describing how ancient peoples thought God made the world. It’s myth, not fact. It’s religion, not science! And people today still believe it because it satisfies their need to have faith in the Old Testament and in the God who is said to have sponsored it by talking it into existence.

No, we do not agree that God is in contact with all those who (think) they are saved through faith in Christ. I do not believe that, so there is no agreement between us on that point. I will say that there are Christians who are inspired and are working out their own salvation on this planet in whatever fashion they chose to do. I grant that! But there are many souls on the planet, especially those who grasp eastern philosophy that are in constant contact with God.

There is nothing logical about the fantastical and mythical account rendered in the Genesis account about how this earth was formed and fashioned. It is the most illogical accounting of astrological events I have ever read. It was written by religious men who knew nothing of science. Strangely, Joseph Smith followed suit with the Old Testament myth when he reinvented the creation story in the books of Moses and Abraham. I think it safe to say, and we can agree, the Mormons believe the accounts tendered by Smith are more “important” than the one preserved by the Jews in Genesis.
