Ajax reads nothing but Brietbart headlines. Time and time again he throws up an idiotic Brietbart claim with indignance demanding "What about this, huh huh huh?" Then someone here does a little digging, usually all of 20 seconds, and quickly refutes the premise of his assertion.
Then ajax disappears for a while only to return with yet another Brietbart headline.
Wash, rinse, repeat.

There's a little edge to ajax's posts lately too. Sounds to me he's a little pissed "the deep state and George Soros and Venezuela and dead people fixed the election for Biden."
It's so weird Trump fans make up these dystopian fantasies when they could just watch Trump for their horror fix.

Re: Religion is stupid. Religion Kills
Since this is a thread about the dangers of religion, I might as well talk about something that occurred to me about right wingers' need for worry.
Religion seems like it's well suited to masochists. I've always wondered why people bother with religion, when all it seems to be is a series of personal impositions with no real payoff (except the imagined, post-life payoff). Now that I've experienced so many right wingers fretting about the imagined monsters in their personal closets, it occurs to me there must be a common brain type that makes people need to fear, just for the sake of fear itself, and if they don't have something real, they'll make up BS. I don't know how else to explain the success of religious thought (putting aside escaping personal responsibility, which also has to be a huge component). Religion satisfies impulses for both imagined pain and imagined pleasure.

And let's face it: the average strip club will provide far more enlightenment that your average church.Philo Sofee wrote: ↑Fri Nov 27, 2020 5:17 amMy guess would be because tits are better than sacrament? Just sayin.....![]()

Don’t we all have a Constitutional right to peaceable assembly? Why has every governor forgot that the people have this right?Icarus wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 12:24 pmTrump's idiot Supreme Court pick says religious idiots like her should be able to endanger the rest of society because killing people via community spread isn't as important as the right to gather in a tight building to show a supposedly omnipresent God that you love him.

Your right to assemble is void if it puts others in danger. Your right to worship an imaginary man in the sky isn't threatened by temporary quarantines designed to serve the general welfare of the collective.

Are you unaware of the concept of airborne communicable diseases? You can literally kill someone by breathing on them... today. Doesn't that move you at all? Doesn't that change your idea of your constitutional rights?Dr. Shades wrote: ↑Fri Nov 27, 2020 5:50 amDon’t we all have a Constitutional right to peaceable assembly? You also have the right to test the limits of gravity, at your own peril. You have the right to refuse wearing a seatbelt. You can avoid fiber and never exercise. The question is whether or not you should.
I would only ask that you test these things, like gravity and COVID, by yourself, and not driving a busload of people with you over the cliff you're eyeing.
It's really quite remarkable how daft people are about this virus.

Only if you put the unwilling at risk. If everyone in proposed peaceful assembly X knows the risks and choose to participate anyway, I don't think any local government has the power to overturn a constitutional right--especially since the Constitution is the supreme law of the land (i.e., taking precedence over any state government). Some Schmo wrote: ↑Fri Nov 27, 2020 3:27 pmAre you unaware of the concept of airborne communicable diseases? Of course you shouldn't. But I'm not cool with the idea of the government telling me I can't eat pork. If a right can be taken away, it isn't a right. You also have the right to test the limits of gravity, at your own peril. You have the right to refuse wearing a seatbelt. You can avoid fiber and never exercise. The question is whether or not you should.
May I test these in conjunction with a peaceful assembly of people who also know, and are willing to take, the attendant risks?I would only ask that you test these things, like gravity and COVID, by yourself, and not driving a busload of people with you over the cliff you're eyeing.
Is it possible to be daft about Constitutional rights? It's really quite remarkable how daft people are about this virus.
