I respectfully disagree with your characterization of the CofJCofLDS.
No problem - And I appreciate that your disagreement is marinated with respect.
To say that the Gospel of Jesus Christ puts a person in bondage is inaccurate.
I never said that the Gospel of Jesus Christ puts a person in bondage - I said that religions, especially organized religions, put people in bondage (Some more than others)
I know we have theological differences ceeboo. But I’m not going to diss your beliefs and say that they are leading you into harmful paths, etc.
My intention wasn't (an still isn't) to diss the personal beliefs of anyone. My intent was to express my very strong opinion about how organized religions, and people being bound in chains, very often go hand in hand - (Mormonism certainly included)
I would expect that you would encourage folks who choose to follow Jesus Christ as members of the church that bears His name to do the same.
You would be wrong with your expectation. I would encourage folks that find themselves bound, trapped, controlled, pressured, stressed out, forced into impossible situations, manipulated, taken advantage of and exhausted by any organized religion (again, Mormonism certainly included) to seek a path out - and to be set free of the horrific chains that they have been placed in by their "religious leaders" for generations and generations.

Members of the LDS church that have testimonies of Christ, His Gospel, and His Church, are willing to take upon themselves the yoke of belief in and following Christ.
I would guess that there are many Mormons who would fit this description (Awesome, in my opinion) but I wasn't speaking about "members of the LDS church" - I was specifically and purposely speaking about the LDS church (Mormonism)
Handcuffs? Hardly.
Handcuffs? Without question - No doubt about it - Full stop.

Hi ceeboo, thanks for your response. I suppose that at this juncture we will need to agree to disagree on a number of points and remain fellow citizens in the household of faith. I respect your right to have views in regards to the CofJCofLDS that differ from mine.

MG

The LDS Church considers the Catholic Church to be an apostate religion.

Not of the household of faith.

Don’t kid a kidder.

I think that’s true.

Does that mean you concur, or not so much?

So you’re saying an apostate religion can be of the household of faith?

You may want to check your mother board.

Oh, and I have to denounce the Book of Mormon Musical, too.

Must add that to my honey dew list!
You cannot ask for understanding and love until you've adequately condemned each and every offensive ex-Mormon post on the Internet. Otherwise, you, being more in their circle than out, tacitly support them and therefore you're also an angry hypocrite!

What a high bar.... and yikes, because by the same logic, LDS leaders tacitly lend their support to every bad thing said by each and every Mormon online too. Every homophobic rant, every version of "your religion is lesser than mine", every crazy and bizarre thing said by over-zealous LDS teenagers... all of it!

In a sense, sure.

My guess is that Elder Holland would loosely refer to Dr. Teal and the Anglican Church as being part of the worldwide house of faith. In the same fashion I look at my Christian brothers and sisters in the same light. Of course we will agree to disagree on particular doctrines and practices. We’ve not all come together in a unity of the faith. But we have faith in God and Jesus Christ as we’ve come to understand them.

MG
