Re: Trump in killing mood ...
I read the O.P. There's nothing that states how Trump has anything whatsoever to do with this, other than he just so happens to be the individual in office at this time, nothing more.

What about when Trump has a horse head placed in the federal prison warden's bed with a note that reads, "Start killing some death row inmates or you'll be sleeping with the fishes or transferred to New Jersey?"Dr. Shades wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 11:49 pmI read the O.P. Re: Trump in killing mood ...
Oh really? So the unprecedented rush of federal executions in the 'lame duck' period is nothing to do with Trump? Some minor bureaucrat just decided to celebrate his departure this way. Thanks for explaining.Dr. Shades wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 11:49 pmI read the O.P. There hadn’t been a federal execution for 17 years until this summer, when Daniel Lewis Lee was put to death. What’s more, there hasn’t been a federal execution during a presidential lame-duck period for 130 years. The last one was in the 1890s during the presidency of Grover Cleveland. “It’s hard to understand why anybody at this stage of a presidency feels compelled to kill this many people,” the director of the Death Penalty Information Center said. “This is a complete historical aberration.”

How many black folks has Trump executed now?
Also, for balance:
https://www.caller.com/story/news/crime ... 479853002/
“55-year-old Louisiana man who was convicted of capital murder in the killing of his daughter in South Texas is set to be executed Friday.
Alfred Bourgeois, a truck driver from LaPlace, Louisianna, was convicted of capital murder in 2004 for the death of his 2-year-old daughter at Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi.
He was also found guilty of physically and emotionally torturing, sexually molesting and beating the child to death, court records state.
In July 2002, Bourgeois, his daughter and two family members followed him on his trucking route to Corpus Christi naval base to deliver a shipment, according to court documents.
Documents state Bourgeois became angry with his daughter because she tipped over her potty training seat he would force her to sit on. He grabbed her by her shoulders and slammed the back of her head into the windshield around the dashboard four times, records state.
The child was taken to the hospital where she later died after being on life support. The medical examiner found deep tissue bruising in every area of the girl's body, documents state.”

Correlation does not imply causation.
I don't know if it's one or several bureaucrats. . . or, more likely, judges. Some minor bureaucrat just decided to celebrate his departure this way.
If you can point me in the direction of a scan of Trump's signature on a death warrant, or someone's earwitness of Trump ordering someone to put a death row inmate to, uh, death, then I will quickly revise my opinion. Until then, I don't see how the President has the power to order someone's death. Thanks for explaining.

Shades,
Tell me if this clears up any of the uncertainties you have regarding "causation":

If you can acknowledge the connection to to Barr, then we can move on to discuss what DJT's role might be here.

Will you now at least acknowledge a causal connection between William Barr and the resumption of capital punishment after a two decade lapse?Attorney General William P. Barr has directed the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to adopt a proposed Addendum to the Federal Execution Protocol—clearing the way for the federal government to resume capital punishment after a nearly two decade lapse,

We can't take farmers and take all their people and send them back because they don't have maybe what they're supposed to have. They get rid of some of the people who have been there for 25 years and they work great and then you throw them out and they're replaced by criminals.

The Trump administration revived the death penalty in the summer of 2019. There would be no executions without that having happened.Dr. Shades wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 12:36 amCorrelation does not imply causation.

Federal Government to Resume Capital Punishment After Nearly Two Decade Lapse July 25, 2019
"The Trump administration’s decision to reinstate the federal death penalty, beginning with the executions of five men later this year, highlights a growing partisan divide over capital punishment at a time when its use has been decreasing. Polls show a strong majority of Republicans support the death penalty, while a majority of Democrats do not. The expected executions, scheduled for this winter, would be the first time the federal government has executed anyone in 16 years — a time period that encompasses both Democratic and Republican administrations."
