Concerning the OP, one of my favorite quotes is from a Catholic Nun:
Sister Joan Chittister wrote:I do not believe that just because you're opposed to abortion that that makes you pro-life. In fact, I think in many cases, your morality is deeply lacking if all you want is a child born but not a child fed, not a child educated, not a child housed. And why would I think that you don't? Because you don't want any tax money to go there. That's not pro-life. That's pro-birth. We need a much broader conversation on what the morality of pro-life is."
Ever since I read this, it has been stuck in my head. I no longer think of the debate as pro-life vs pro-choice, I see it as pro-birth vs pro-life. Being pro-choice is being pro-life (or perhaps more accurately, pro-high-quality-life).

I have no idea how one can reconcile making a woman have a child they don't want without also being in favor of society supporting all those unwanted children somehow. And if you haven't thought about the consequences of rigid pro-birth attitudes, you clearly haven't thought the topic through rationally. You've only considered it emotionally and superficially. You've probably been picturing all the perfectly healthy, fully formed babies loved by both their parents, and not all the unwanted children by single mothers/absent fathers, the parents who can barely take care of themselves.
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense.

The god idea is popular with desperate people.

Supposedly at the University of Texas shooting in the 60s, everyone went to their trucks and got their hunting rifles. They shot back at the shooter in the tower, keeping him down and potentially saving lives.
I believe the Vegas shooting was from a hotel balcony into a crowd of concert attendees. I doubt running to their vehicle for a rifle was an option there. Even if it was, they'd have to hope they didn't get shot on the way.

Agreed it wouldn’t have been much help for that situation.
